I also had to use a band aid at the back of each of my heels to prevent chafing. Also be sure to spray scotchguard to protect against rain. Other than that, I love the look and very much enjoy the shoes. He remembered the extreme comfort of these Desert Boots from years ago, and wanted another pair. They were just as he remembered, and the only complaint was, a little tightness in the toe. Overall he was very pleased. As for myself, I have never experienced such FAST service and shipping, with NO shipping charges! This will be my shoe shopping place from now on. After seeing the number of reviews, there is truly is a great Desert Boot army out there, cool. I am 55 years old and have been wearing them since 1964. They are a great comfortable shoe and they have always looked good with Levis jeans and those old Levis cord jeans of the same color. Old school, no khakis. The last pair I bought did not have the soft leather lining on the interiors. I miss that. The old interior covered the sides, toe box, tongue, everything. Dress codes, dress codes, all the way through high school. In college, I had wallabees and desert treks, but never a pair of desert boots. Finally, this year, I bought a pair. I'm a size 11 wide, and they fit front to back right out of the box, but they were really tight around the balls of my feet and my instep, and wearing them two days straight didn't break them in; my feet actually hurt! I took them to a shoe repair shop to be stretched, and that did the trick. They're now incredibly comfortable and look great. I have been wearing Clarks Desert Boots and Shoes for the last 40 yrs, and will not trade my Clarks for anything. There’s no boots that are dressier, comfortable, it is a boot that gives you walking balance, and it caresses your feet and brings surety to one's steps. I love my Clarks. My mother buys him a new pair every Christmas and he always needs them. Since moving to Florida from Texas, he finds them a little less practical then they were in the desert but still wears them constantly. The amazing thing is that my brother owns two restaurants and they are comfortable enough for him to wear them to work where he is on his feet 12 to 14 hours a day. It was the best shoes I ever had - quality and durability-wise. I am so terribly disappointed with the quality of this new shoes that I just purchased. It is totally a different material. The leather is so flimsy and the rubber sole is so flat and "spongy". Nevertheless.. you guys are outstanding...easy to order..fast delivery..easy to return the merchandise... They are easy to care for and always comfortable as all-weather shoes.
