Wish it had a smooth leather sock liner, but once I get it on with my socks, it is great. I own 3 Clarks Wallabees two low cut, and one boot that is by far my fav. When I took out of the box...first I noticed that there was NO leather footbed lining from the ball of the foot to the toe. I could go on and on, but please tell it like it is. Love my Wallabees and wish I had more of a choice for women in the leather. I will be patient and wait for you to come to your senses. For patent leather it is not very shiny except on the toe and heel. It will dress up a pair of casual pants and not be too casual for a dressy pair of pants. The shoe though is larger than expected. My heal come out when walking. I wear a size 7 med US. This is a size 7-7.5 or 38 medium. It is also just a tad wider. I wore a midweight sock with this. I bought another pair of Riekers the same size (different style shoe) that fits perfectly. The sole on this pair though seams a little more comfy. They are usually the most comfortable shoes! But I found 61/2 to be too big, yet size 6 was extremely narrow. However, I find that quality control is an issue for these shoes in spite of their high price. The pair I just recently got from Zappos had a large wad of glue stuck inside the toe area. It made it very uncomfortable for my big toe. By the time I realized what the problem was, I had already worn the shoes too much to return. I was able to get pliers and pull out most of the glue. Also the leather in that front panel is not as high a quality as the rest of the shoe. I've had similar problems with my other pairs of Desert Treks. I have had a pair of Desert Treks for about two years. They were comfortable from day one and have held up very well. In Idaho, I may be working one day in the desert, the next in the mountains; dust, rocks, heat, or cold. Based on the look and all the reviews, I oredered this shoe but was sorely disappointed when I found I could not wear it and must send it back. I do have wide feet, but I never have to order wide sized shoes. Usually, if something fits tightly to begin with, I will endure it a few hours while it stretches. I guess I have gotten used to shoes with better support overall. They are comfortable but after a day in them, my feet ache from not enough arch support. I put in some Dr. Scholl soles, but that made the shoes too tight. Also, if you get the leather ones do not spray them with water proofing spray! I did that right away and thought I ruined them! They dried all blotchy and weird. I had to scrub them with saddle soap and then use colorless leather lotion. They are much better but not like when I first got them.
