Great simple shoe for everyday wear. 2009-05-25 17:40:33 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Saskatchewan Overall: Customer service was above and beyond anything I had ever encountered. Simply amazing. I ordered a half size down but they were too roomy. A call later, I had another pair coming. I had to size down one inch to get a pair that fit perfectly. I would suggest sizing down an inch to most people, unless you want to wear them with layers of socks like a crazy person. Honestly though, it is like each step is in a dream. It feels soft, comfortable, inviting. They look classy yet awesome. You can even sneak around in these stylish boots. Truly amazing, and I will surely order through Zappos again. 2009-05-07 09:46:15 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Seattle, Wa. Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Thanks - Great to see the Clarks Desert Boot is still available, basically unchanged, in a variety of colors. Don't mind the lack of arch support --- leaves room for me to add my own inner sole. Always great service and selection, thanks Zappos! 2008-12-08 11:06:34 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Seattle, WA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a full size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Hot Boots - There isn't a boot that looks better than these for the price. The first day I wore them, 17 people complimented me. They would look down at their Chucks and then back at my Desert Boots and they'd get a crazy look in their eyes like, "Why don't I own those boots..." Here's some real talk about comfort: Wear tall socks. The back of these shoes are at just the right height to really chafe the old ankles. I wore these with short socks and I got really chafed. I hate getting chafed, but I love these shoes, so to prevent chafing, I bought chafe proof socks. Chafe. Other than that, they're a surprisingly comfortable piece of boot. The soles broke in quickly to the shape of my foot, the leather is soft, and wearing these with a nice pair of merino wool socks gives you just the right amount of comfort, warmth and weatherproofing. I rode out Hurricane Andrew in these boots, and I've lived to tell about it. 2008-11-29 12:24:04 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Jet 2 from San Francisco, CA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support A design classic! A great combination of form and function. I have been wearing Clark's since I was 4 years old - parents had taste thank God. Continued wearing them through high school, college, and today. The break-in is short and you'll want to size down at least a half size from your usual fit. The addition of a good insole is also key as the arch support isn't the best without some modification. These boots can take abuse, I still regularly ride an old Vespa whilst wearing CDB's [I guess once a mod - always a mod] and they hold up just fine. I would suggest treating them with a water repellent right out of the gate, and keeping a suede brush handy to keep them sharp. A GREAT boot over all. 2007-04-28 21:17:58 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Dallas, TX Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Zappos-Just the best. I am an avid internet shopper...But when it comes to speed and great service, I am sure very few out there can come closer to Zappos...Shoes landed at my place within 48 hours of my order time...This is coupled with their great return policy! Shoes look great. Received lots of compliments. 2007-02-02 10:19:08 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Central Pennsylvania Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Clarks Desert Boot - I wore these boots along with Weejuns throughout college and they were my only shoe for 2 years in the Peace Corps. Just as I remembered and a great true to size fit. Great service! Arrived 30 hours after I placed my order. You will be my shoe store from now on! 2006-10-06 18:55:30 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Bob from Seattle Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Clarks Desert Boot in Oily Leather - About Time! I love the classic Clarks Desert Boot, but was disappointed that they discontinued it in beeswax leather. But now it's out in 'oily leather', and is just as good. Butter soft uppers, and so comfortable. And best of all, Clarks had the good sense not to mess with a good thing! A Clarks desert boot bought now probably looks the same as one bought 20 years ago. Good job Clarks! 2005-07-21 05:13:16 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Philadelphia Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support A Mod Classic - Timeless style and quality from Clarks - the original desert boot. Dating back to boots used by British Army officers in North Africa in WWII, the desert boot was a mandatory shoe with stylish young mods in Britain in the early sixties. These are really well made, high quality suede. Simple design that just looks good... 2005-06-16 09:12:39 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from DFW, Texas Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Clark's Desert Boot - Groovy. The leather spots easily and needs to be waterproofed. The crepe sole turns black with wear. 2005-05-28 07:15:08 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: C G from Palo Cedro CA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Desert boots an old friend - I started wearing Clarks Desert Boots when I was 7 years old I wore them through Grammar school and then I forgot about them for about 40 years I saw them someplace and rembered how much I used to like like them so I went online to see if they were still made, sure enough I got a pair an they are still just like I remembered them all around great. 2005-05-26 10:44:02 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from L.A. Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a full size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Modtastic! A classic shoe in a world full of questionable footwear. You can not get anymore classic. In one word...classic. A classical classy classic with an emphasis on classicosity. P.S. People with wide feet should get ready for a break-in period. Classic. 2005-05-25 15:12:23 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Forest from Edgemont, SD Overall: Shoe Arch: No arch support Clarks's Desert Boot - Very roomy in the heel, and the lace-up seems very weak & flimsy compared with other "boots" I'm used to, but it may well prove to be perfectly adequate. However, the most important qualities to me are that they're well-made, very soft and cool for walking, and they look great. I'm pleased overall. 2005-05-06 11:27:48 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from Southern California Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support No quite as I remebered... My recollection from many years ago was that this was the most comfortable shoe in my wardrobe. When I found it again at Zappos I was thrilled to experience this shoe again. I would say that it looks as good as ever. I like the suede and classic crepe sole, but the shoe is wanting in the comfort department, especially as I compare it to my new Born's purchased at the same time. It seems the heel cup rides low and feels like the shoe is coming off when I walk. 2005-05-06 07:00:22 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Anonymous from New York City Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Great boots - These boots were exactly what I was looking for and the man who is wearing them enjoys them. 2005-05-03 15:11:04 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Bake from Cedar City, Utah Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a full size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support The greatest - These make me feel like a kid again. I've had them 29 days and worn them 28. Get 'em a half to full size smaller than your normal size. 2005-04-27 11:46:35 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Jimmy from New Jersey Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Desert Boots - I have owned a pair of desert boots since the 1950s. I consider them a wardrobe essential. With jeans, khakis or casual slacks I think they look great. I find them comfortable, easy to care for and a great look. For maintenance they require very little, just wear them until dirty (it adds character) and when they develop too much character, wash them with dish soap and a natural brush. And, when the end comes, say goodbye and buy another pair because they are cheaper than sneakers these days. As an aside, they were designed for the British Troops fighting Rommel in the desert during WWII, how cool is that! 2005-04-27 06:41:48 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: The G Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Brothel Creepers... ...is what I think the British soldiers call these because they are very quiet shoes; particularly in sand. I have worn Clark's desert boots in Algeria, Morocco, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia amongst other places and finally decided to get a dark brown pair. A friend of mine wears these on safari in Africa because they are so quiet he can creep up on the animals and take their picture or shoot them. Very easy to get on and off in the middle of the night when the bad guys are coming over the wall. Not a traditional hiking or combat boot so not good for load bearing but on an average day in the desert they are great. They don't overheat your feet and they are easily removed to pour out the sand. Great shoes that go with many occasions. Spray them with stain repellent first though. 2005-04-18 09:31:40 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Johnny D from TEXAS Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Comfortable - The shoe is very comfortable. I own a lot of shoes and I have been wearing these quite a bit. 2005-04-13 07:52:59 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Redape from san francisco Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a full size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Watch your size!! Love desert boots and bless you zappos for having them available. If you've not owned these guys before watch your size. I wear US 11 1/2 - 12 but wear a 10 1/2 desert boot. They stretch out with wear so a bit tight to start but then they ease in just right. Perfect for all your modern action needs. 2005-04-09 17:29:38 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Mikel from Dallas, Texas Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked Shoe Arch: No arch support Blast from the Past... I had worn Clark's Wallabees while working overseas in the '80s and loved the fit and comfort. As a kid I had worn 'chukka' boots with jeans in the '60s. So when I spied the desert boots from Clarks I naturally decided to take the plunge. Unfortunately, either my memory or my feet have changed considerably over time. These are well made (as all Clarks are) shoes with the classic look that goes with jeans or kakhi pants. But the comfort is not the reason to buy them. The gum sole is in fact the only saving grace - as it provides some measure of spring in your step but not much. In this day of high-tech, track-shoe insoles, Clarks needs to seriously consider revamping (no pun intended) the insides to give better support and comfort. Other than this, the shoe is true to the boots I remember! 2005-04-05 07:53:03 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: John S from new york Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Clarks are the best - I could have used some care instructions at the time of purchase, but other than that, these boots comfortable and good looking. I wear them all over. 2005-04-01 10:09:55 Clarks Desert Boot Reviewer: Mike D from Seattle, WA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Still stylish, even after all these years - This is an amazing shoe. Everyone seems to like the look of them, and are stunned when they realize they're the old stand-by shoe from Clarks. Tips to use: 1. You need a suede brush to keep them looking fresh. 2. They tend to be a 1/2 size large. I wear a 12.5 US, and I ordered a 12 which fit fine. 3. They do need to be broken in a bit. No blisters, but some rubbing spots happened. 4. Get ready for lots of compliments.
