I love the clean, simple, classic look. So many shoes today are too fussy with lots of unnecessary details. It doesn't get any simpler than this, and the price is so low for what you get. I have seen so many other shoes that cost more and appear cheaper. The reason I bought these is that they are very low profile and not clunky, so I can wear them with slim jeans. Also, they're more comfortable than I even expected. They're better than some sneakers I've worn lately with thin soles. I ordered my normal size, had a few days of a tender heels until they felt like they old friends they are. They're comfortable, but not comfortable enough to wear all day long unfortunately. If you do a lot of walking or standing all day like myself, make sure you have another pair of shoes. When you get these shoes, waterproof them!!! I didn't, and I regret it. Zappos is great; the shoes were delivered to me faster than fast. They're very handsome, but totally unpretentious. They're incredibly sturdy, but also the most comfortable shoes that I've ever worn. And last -- but certainly not least -- they go with anything. I can fathom wearing these with a suit after a mink oiling (although I am yet to do so), but I tend to wear them with khakis and a polo, or shirt and sweater. Pick these shoes up, no shoes-trees required! Note: When you first get these shoes, they may feel slightly large. Mine did. Excellent looks, goes with anything, I get a lot of positive comments on them. They're uber cool in the old school way. No real arch support (I added insoles to solve that) and they need to be broken in for a few weeks before you will really appreciate the comfort. The top of my right foot big toe had some discomfort but eventually wore in. My favorite shoe I own. If you're looking for something slightly different and cool this is the shoe to own. I can't say enough good things about Zappos. About the boot, well, it's definitely a nice looking boot. Classic, artsy, masculine, and adventureous. Contrary to what others wrote, I found I needed my usual 10.5 and not a half size down as others had noted. Also, the boot runs quite narrow. I'm a good ole 10.5 D (medium) and it is a bit snug. I can't imagine having a moderately wide foot in this thing. The shoe strings on these suckers are seriousily wimp! I've had the boots a week and I already know that I am going to have to replace them soon. As far as looks go, well it's a winner. This shoe is in that rare class of shoe that can share closet space with seriousily cool and expensive footwear and be just as cool. It's a fashion bargain which is ironic because this is not a fashion shoe. It's a classic. Just like Moleskin journals or old Levi's it ages beautifully, is inexpensive, and works well in any number of situations. My husband had been wanting a Desert boot and I immediately went to locate them on line. Clarks were at another merchant at lower price and as I generally check out Zappos always, Sure enough they had the same shoe. Good to their word not only did my husband have his shoes in upgraded two days free of charge but the 110% policy too. If you find it somewhere else and Zappos can accommodate you, they as good as their word. The shoes are a big hit with my husband. He feels like a teenager again.
