I only had to change the laces a few times. The color and stitching have been updated slightly on the new pair but they are as awesome as my previous pair. Zappos is greatest when it comes to service. The first pair I bought were too big so when I noticed they only had one pair of the size I wanted, I called customer service immediately. Not only did Zappos secure the last pair for me, they sent them out overnight at no extra charge. And get this, BEFORE (!!) I had even packaged my return. I'm on pair #4 now that I just received from Zappos. This is a great shoe that feels soo comfortable. They go great with jeans or any casual cords/slacks. The upper suede leather forms to your foot making it perfect. I've been wearing this Clark Boot since 1954… before they began putting the toe support into the style. I still love 'em and obviously I still buy them. I don't require an arch support, so if you do, you might re-think these. However, if you don't require an arch support type last, this is really nice to wear. They are getting more difficult to find, but they are the most comfortable casual shoe that you will ever wear. I checked Zappos one day just to see if they carried them and to my surprise the carried and had a full range of sizes. While I have only used Zappos twice, the service and satisfaction policy is unparallel. You really have to use some suede protectant on it though, because it would be pretty easy to get coffee stains on this thing. It’s somewhat narrow for the length that I needed. Absolutely no arch support and the sole gets gummed up pretty easily. For the price it is quite worth it. When I opened the boxes (I bought two pair) it was like seeing a much-loved old friend after a long absence. Why had I not pursued them instead of settling for something else? They look no different, but I'm sure Clark's would tell me otherwise. The fit seems the same. But let me walk a few more miles to get them broken in, which is when they are at their best. The one caveat (and it's minor) would be for more overall support, especially the arch. But that may just be my age talking. Good show, Clark's. I had been looking for this style for a while as I had worn the Hush Puppies and the Thom McCann versions (usually made in Spain) back in the seventies. Looks killer with denim and corduroy. The Clarks Desert Boot is well made as far as the materials, the stitching, and the glue work. The cushioning is less than some dress shoes made by Clarks or Rockport. Thick, hiking style socks help as I don't like inserts. By the way, I use 9.5 medium in Adidas running shoes, and my size in the Clarks Desert Boot is 8.5 medium.
