I purchased them for his Christmas present. He loves them, are exactly what he wanted, but they run about 1/2 size smaller than his regular size 10. Other than the size running small, the shoe is very nice. The leather is soft and pliable, the color was exactly what he wanted and are as well made as they were years ago. They were pretty tight across the top of the shoe, but stretched out after a few days. Fit great now. Ordered a full size smaller than I normally wear because they run big. Originally, I ordered the dark brown color, but returned them because they're too dark for my taste. Zappos returned them quickly and efficiently and sent me the new color. Very happy. I ordered this pair of shoes at 3:00 PM on Thanksgiving, and they were delivered before 3:00 PM the next day. Amazing! Clarks desert boots themselves are as billed: comfortable, good fit and well made. I ordered the same size as I buy in a running shoe, and the fit is good and comfortable. The leather is very soft and sole pliable, no breaking in issues. The price was the same as other places on the web, but it's hard to imagine other places having next day shipping included in the price. Look:First, I want to talk about the sizing. This is the first pair of Desert Boots that I have ever bought. I own about 5 pair of Desert Trek and wanted something different. That being said: If you own Desert Trek and are considering this style, then buy 1/2 size down from your DT size. I wear an 11 in the DT and in these I ended up taking a 10.5. Now, for the comfort. These are as comfortable, if not more, than my Desert Treks. Right out of the box they felt good. My only complaint was I couldn't get used to the strings not coming up the shaft of the boot, but that was quickly taken care of with a leather punch. I love these boots and I'm sure they're going to go as far as my other Clarks. The boot looks good, I have already had people asking about them. They have a cool retro look about them (I'm 35 and missed out on the 60s swinging London period). Comfort, class, style. 3 important things to look for in a shoe, and they're Clarks so you know you're getting something good. About Zappos. I've been ordering from Zappos for about 8 years now and am always impressed with the excellent service they provide. I ordered these Monday at 3 pm (EST) and they were at my door on Tuesday 10:30 am. Amazing. The customer service at Zappos is top notch and if you need to exchange anything they make it so easy. Look:Amazing! I ordered these shoes on the internet at 7:30 PM. At 10:30 the next morning, UPS was at my door with the shoes. Well done Zappos!\r\nAs for the shoes, I think this is the fifth pair of these I have owned. The first pair was as a freshmen in high school way back in the 1960\'s. This shoe never goes out of style. They fit true to size. Need no breaking in and they last forever. Look:I was shopping for desert boots on the net when I found Zappos. Found what I was looking for and ordered them. The customer service reps were fantastic in their help. The quality of the boots were just as I remembered them as a teen, wore them all the time. Great service, ordered them one day and had them at 8:30 am the next. Look:Loving my Clarks Desert Boots, old school, but still cool. My 11.5s had room for a cushioning Spenco insert. I tried inserts with an arch support, as the boot is quite flat, but not enough room for those. I usually buy size 12 in running shoes so I can add the Spenco inserts, so the Clarks may run a little big. I wear 11 flip-flops, but shoes can vary from 11 to 11.5 depending on brand. Don't expect a work boot or walking shoe, there isn't sufficient support for comfortable all day contact on concrete. Classic style for a casual date or shopping around town, the light color is perfect with denim. I have owned 5 variations of Desert Trek, Fox, and Boot. Light suede colors will pick up stains quite easily, within several minutes. Darker, waxy leather uppers will stay looking brand new for years with occasional saddle soap. It's nearly impossible to wear out the crepe soles on these things, though they will darken considerably with use and change the overall appearance of the shoe. Zappos will not disappoint. They have been really popular here in Maine. They look stylish but are super comfortable, WARM, and stay dry and new looking even after walking through snow, rain, mud and slush. I treated the leather bottom part with Nikwax, which really waterproofs the leather. I am a kindergarten teacher and spend lots of time outdoors all year long in all kinds of weather. Uggs are the one boot I can depend on to keep my feet toasty. I agree with the other reviews that these run small. Looks great with jeans or can be worn with slacks for a casual dress look (think Steve McQueen in Bullitt). I ordered my usual size and they fit great, nice room at the toe area, yet no heel slip. Wore these as a young lad, fun to wear them again almost every day (when not in shorts!). Not recommended as a work/hike boot at all as they are not constructed for that, but a great everyday casual, light trek type shoe. For example, a dinner party. These boots, like all Clarks Desert, run 1/2 size big so size down. Also, the toe box is pretty narrow while the area around the heel/ankle is wider than expected. It's an odd fit for a bit til it loosens up. You just have to make sure you lace it tight. Also, what socks are you supposed to wear with these boots? As a soldier, I wore jump boots/jungle boots all day. My Desert Boots were a welcome change off duty. As I moved around the country and overseas, they became hard to find, and eventually impossible. While shopping with my granddaughter recently she pointed out Clark's Wallabies - her favorite shoe. I inquired of the store clerk about Desert Boots and received a blank stare. Remembering I had bought some "Cute Rain Boots" (a local teenage favorite) for my granddaughter from Zappos I checked the website and was delighted to find my old favorite Desert Boots. Response was fantastic. My order was acknowledged within 2 hours (on a Saturday) and the shoes arrived promptly several days later. They are as comfortable as I remembered and my wife thinks they look great. They're light, soft and wear like a moccasin -- kind of unstructured, with a basically flat insole. The soft crepe soles are squishy and quiet. You kind of grow into 'em, and once you do you'll wear them everywhere. They're really stylish, especially for summer: rock them with a light suit or white jeans, and they're one of the few boots you can wear with shorts and still look cool. Even though they don't have great arch support, they are still pretty damn comfortable. I wear an 11 1/2 and they fit perfectly.
