Simple, Classic, Casual Style - A Throwback - So far it appears to be a well made shoe. The brown color has a slightly antiqued finish which I like. Rugged good looks. I usually don't care for 2 and 3 lace shoes and boots, but the laces work fine.

Roarrrr! The Clark's Roar is both a comfortable boot and an aesthetically pleasing one too. There is hardly any "breaking-in" time.

Very good, but not great - I got these to have a pair of walking-about-town, suitable-for-work, COMFORTABLE, slip-resistant and hopefully water-and-snow resistant boots. They are most of that. Pretty light, and so far, no slipping. Not as comfortable as I'd like - leather is a bit stiff, cut is a bit low - just at the ankle. And what's with those string-like laces? The manufacturing quality is a bit less than it should be - each day, my socks have been dyed red by the excess color from the interior. But they are FAR better feeling than anything similar I've worn in the last year or so.

A comfortable mild winter shoe worth every penny - I bought these to replace my German MARC boots as they are similar boots. These Clark's were even more comfortable. In fact they are more comfortable than they look. I gave four stars for the look. They scuff easily since they have a suede/velvet-like surface texture. However, for the price you get a pair of boot that keep you warm, dry, and comfortable for an acceptable price given we are in 2009. They have better sole traction than the combat boots I wear for working (I am in the military)! I wholeheartedly recommend these boots for casual cold weather wear.

A pleasure doing business with Zappos - The Clark Roar runs a little large. I order a size 11 which I normally wear. It was a little big. I returned them with no problem and reordered a 10.5 which fit right. I love the shoes. I have a very odd shaped foot. Wide and high instep which makes it hard to find a shoe that comfortable. The break in time not as short as others have stated, but not that bad.

Wow! Comfy and light. I hate it when boots are heavy and uncomfortable. My first time wearing Clarks and I can't believe I went this long without ever owning a pair. These feel better than sneakers! And breathe so much better.

Good all around casual shoes - I was looking for something that I could wear during a trip up north that would look all right for wearing on the plane and would work for walking in snow. The shoes looked great with jeans (not for the office unless your business casual includes jeans). Mostly walking on one to two inches of snow my feet never got cold and the sole had a good grip. The price was ok. I'm sure there must be a brand that's a better value out there but these are fine if you don't have a ton of time to shop around.

Great boot - would recommend - Very comfortable boot if you do a lot of standing or walking. Soft high quality leather upper. Tread is good, but would probably not last long if you do any kind of outdoor labor. This is not a work boot - it is not waterproof and not insulated. It is a casual boot that goes well with khakis or jeans. The laces that come with the boot are not very strong and slip during the day making the top of the boot feel loose. Replaced them with laces I liked better and they are great.

Perfect All-Around Boot - Surprisingly comfortable for a boot--feels solid, a bit heavy, but very soft and easy to walk in. Beautiful wearing leather and thick, well-constructed outer sole. Seems like it should last me forever.

Great boots - The Clark boots I ordered actually exceeded my expectations in comfort and looks. Have worn them on cold days and they really keep my feet warm and dry. Great fit right out of the box.

Clarks, yet again, has come up with a shoe I really like! My dad had a number of pairs of Clarks Desert boots; I think his first pair was acquired during the WWII N. African campaign. Over the years, I've continued to buy Clarks shoes (the Rhino was one of my favorites). The Roar is just the most recent winner. Thanks for the opportunity to write about it.

Nice! I prefer wearing no shoes - but... I can get away with these no problem at work (school VP) - they are very comfortable on my very wide feet - I have the taupe and after searching everywhere for a black work shoe I am ordering a black pair love the look and love the fit!

Nice boot - I was looking for a same style boot to replace worn out that I could no longer find. These matched up to what I like and they do look and wear good.

Great value- good looking - I found these at a Bostonian Store in a local mall after shopping for a suede boot online for months. I bought them on the spot because most of the suede boots were designer types often at over $300US a pair. They don't come with Vibram soles so don't expect Vibram durability. They are not waterproof. They are "cemented construction", you know like a sneaker. One heel is wearing down but all of my shoes do when I walk on concrete sidewalks for very long, especially leather-soled shoes and especially when wet. These look great with jeans, good quality or old reliable khakis, sweaters, corduroy sport coats etc. These are really perfect for when this big boy just can't get away with wearing sneakers or when I want to look like the ivy-league lit teacher and not look a banker. The rest of my week I look like the banker.

Good gawd these shoes rock! Just got my second pair. Others are Taupe suede. These are some good looking boot/shoes. I love them. As for the wear issues mentioned below I haven't noticed. The brown ones I’ve had for 8 mo of pretty frequent wear with no real problems. Oh...and the best part. I ordered these one night at 11 and they were at my door by lunch time the next day. WOW thanks Zappos. Friends for life.

Clarks Roar - These shoes are super comfortable. The sole is made of a gummy compound and with the vibram like tread really grips in all conditions. The only downside is that with this grippy tread it makes an annoying squeak on hard floors. But I still would recommend to anyone, but buy a half size smaller than normal.

These shoes are the perfect fit. I climb at least four days a week and they have held up so well, the quality is great. 5.10 has the best sticky rubber out there.

Comfortable but only good for about 6 months wear. I like these shoes a lot. They give good ankle support and very good cushioning for walking on concrete. I have just purchased a second pair after wearing a hole in the heel and sole of the last pair I had. And that's the problem with these shoes, the soles are well padded and spongy, but they are only good for about 6 months with any kind of normal walking. So I have on my new pair, and I plan to take the old ones down to the local shoe repair store to have them resoled.

Comfortable, good looking boot. I bought these a week ago hoping they would be the perfect footwear for an upcoming trip to Russia where there is sure to be tons of walking. I've worn them every day and absolutely love them. So totally comfortable and look good with everything short of maybe a suit. Definitely happy with my purchase.

Really nice boot - I like the style and the design of this boot. It is very comfortable from the start; however, I wish it had a bit more arch support. Otherwise, it's a really great boot and I recommend this for both casual and casual dress situations. I'm not sure it is at the level of a hiking boot but for general outdoor use it is okay.

Wore out quick - I bought these as work boots in a woodshop, which was a big mistake. Granted, maybe I don't have the best posture, but I literally wore a hole into the heel of this boot within a month of normal working conditions. Fortunately, Zappos has amazing customer service and I was able to return the pair of boots for a full refund. Thanks.

A great shoe from a great place - As usual, ordering from Zappos couldn't be easier. They had what I wanted, I received it the next day at no charge and it was exactly as described at their site. This shoe is really made for casual wear, but it's attractive enough to wear with a blazer, or for casual "button down" Fridays. I would highly recommend it, as well as Zappos as a place to buy any shoes.
